The College Level Examination Program, or CLEP, is available to anyone to receive college credit by earning qualifying scores on any one or more of 34 exams in various subjects, allowing them to move directly into upper-level courses, saving time and money. Active duty and veterans can make the most of their GI Bill benefits by applying those funds toward needed courses. Earning credit quickly provides flexibility in managing the complex demands of jobs, families, and college-level course work.
DANTES Subject Standardized Tests, or DSST, are credit-by-examination tests originated by the United States Department of Defense’s Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) program. The program is an extensive series of 38 examinations in college subject areas that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate college courses. These tests are frequently used in conjunction with CLEP tests pursuing college degrees in non-traditional formats. Whereas CLEP tests are almost exclusively used for lower level credit at regionally accredited institutions, DSST's are available for both upper and lower level credit.
Please note: initial tests are provided at no cost to Active Duty military; the cost to retest is $80.
